Ìyá Pittsburgh is committed to addressing health disparities for those who have been historically marginalised in perinatal and reproductive healthcare spaces. This is why Ìyá Pittsburgh is proud to include birth doula and support companion mentorships and services to its expanding offerings for the community.
Birth Doulas & Support Companions new to birthwork benefit from mentoring from experienced birthworkers, peer support, and assistance finding their first client(s) for evaluations needed for most certifications.
Ìyá Pittsburgh has created a mentorship program that includes:

an 8-hour intensive training that covers material often left out of traditional training programs

supervised mentoring via video, phone, & text— first client provided

one-on-one, individualized birth debriefing with mentor

group cohort debriefing and community building

Next Cohort Onboarding: To Been Announced
Clients working with birth doula mentees benefit from receiving subsidized doula support from a new doula being advised by an experienced mentor.
